Wonder of the Seas

With a length of 326 meters and 16 decks, eight “neighborhoods”, 2,867 rooms and the ability to accommodate up to 7,084 guests, the new Royal Caribbean cruise ship is a floating city of entertainment.

Wonder of the Seas made its maiden voyage on March 4 from Fort Lauderdale, Florida bound for the Caribbean, and then sailed to Europe from the port of Barcelona. It took more than three years to build, in the shipyards of St. Nazaire in France and is the fifth cruise ship in Royal Caribbean’s Oasis series.

Twenty-four elevators take guests up and down to decks that offer dozens of options for entertainment, activities and dining. The highlights are the 65m long Ultimate Abyss vertiginous slide, the Typhoon and Cyclone water slides, and the Flowrider surf simulator. Basketball, ping pong, mini golf, zipline, laser tag track and jogging tracks are available on board.

Kids don’t stop playing at Wonder Playscape, an “underwater” park full of slides, caves, climbing walls, games and puzzles with endless possibilities. Teenagers meet at Social 100, an outdoor club with hot tubs and outdoor chess.

To soak up the sun there are three swimming pools and ten hot tubs – including the Solarium pool, an adults-only panoramic garden/club located at the front of the ship.

Accommodation includes four types of rooms – interior, ocean view, balcony and virtual balcony. A separate “neighborhood” hosts the Royal Suite Class suites that offer luxurious accommodation, concierge service and VIP experiences in its own pool deck, lounge and restaurants. A highlight of Wonder of the Seas hospitality is the Ultimate Family Suite, a two-story suite equipped with indoor slides, Lego walls and toys.

And for those who want to challenge their luck, there is the Royale Casino, with slots machines, poker tables and blackjack.
